The role
Headteacher, L37 – L43
In a Catholic school the role of the Headteacher is one of leadership of a learning community rooted in faith, taking Christ as its inspiration. St Wilfrid’s recognises its past and present success, but we are committed to becoming better still for our students and the communities we serve. To maintain our high standards and navigate the challenging change agenda ahead we need a visionary and inspirational leader with the ability to engage with students, staff and our partner organisations. You will lead from the front, setting high expectations and challenging targets for both students and staff, whilst monitoring effectiveness and outcomes.
We are seeking a committed practising Catholic, who can recognize and seize the opportunities that this post presents.
An empathy for, and understanding of, the communities in which we work and serve is essential. We are proud of our local links and partnerships but strive to maintain and grow these further. We are heavily oversubscribed and our intake encompasses over 50 primary schools spread over a wide geographical area including Leeds, Castleford, Pontefract and Wakefield - excellent communication skills and experience of genuine community partnership working will be key.
As headteacher, it will be your role to ensure that a shared Christian vision and strategic plan is clearly articulated, shared, understood and acted upon effectively by all stakeholders.
The school was previously inspected in 2007 and therefore we are expecting an inspection very soon. We believe that we are a good school with outstanding features but know that we can be even better. Raising expectations will be a key challenge, not just to meet the ambitions of the families we serve - but to exceed them. We are seeking someone who is committed to creating positive strategies for improving learning, raising standards and consolidating changes to the curriculum.
In return we offer the opportunity to determine, organize and implement a diverse and flexible curriculum and implement an effective assessment framework.
Through your commitment to getting the very best out of our school and creating a cohesive and successful Christian learning community, you will be instrumental in shaping our future.
